New Life, Who Dis? Accept the New That God Is Doing In You

christian life coach embracing change with faith isaiah 43:19 meaning new beginnings in christ Mar 30, 2025

Alight, allow me to get real and call you out for a moment - why do we act like we can slap a fresh coat of paint on an old mess and expect something new? Why are you looking for a different kind of man or a different kind of life, yet you're looking in all the same places? It's like wanting to diet, but hanging out at the drive-thru lane! It's like wanting a new kind of man, but still hitting up the same bars or same dating apps! Am I getting too real for some of ya'all? No babe, that's not how it works! That is NOT how ANY of this works! We want to grow in faith, but we keep leaning on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).

The Definition Of Insanity (And Spiritual Stagnation)

We've all heard that famous quote: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." But let's take that one step further - spiritual stagnation is praying for a new season while holding on to the current one, or even yet, refusing to do something new; something you've never done before. In order to get something new, you're going to have to do something new!

We love to ask God for something new: "Lord, send me a godly man!" But then we ignore all the red flags and keep entertaining the same types of men who treat us like a backup plan. Or we pray, "God, help me heal from this breakup!" but then go scrolling through their social media like it’s our second job. Sis, you can’t walk into newness while clinging to old patterns.

God is trying to do a new thing in your life, but He can’t hand you the blessing when you’re still clinging to the baggage and your comfort.

Isaiah 43:19 says:
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Girl, God is over here making rivers in your dry places, and you’re still holding on to what you know and who you are! "God made me this way" or "This is how I've always done things." God is literally saying, “HELLOOO, I’m trying to bless you! Do you see it or nah?” But sometimes, we’re so busy looking backward that we miss the path forward.

Newness Requires Action

Look, I get it. Change is hard. You finally get comfortable in your mess, build a little emotional Airbnb in your past, and then—BAM!—God starts calling you into something new. And let’s be real, new can be scary. But you can’t expect different results when you keep doing the same old thing. That’s like putting expired milk back in the fridge, hoping it’ll be fresh tomorrow. Spoiler alert: It won’t.

You can’t want a fresh start but refuse to take the first step. James 2:26 reminds us that faith without works is dead. Instead of replaying old scenarios and rehashing past pain, take action toward the future God has for you. Meaning, you gotta move, sis!

  • Do you want healthy relationships? Learn to set boundaries, learn to have standards, and stop romanticizing red flags.
  • Want peace? Learn to let go of what doesn't serve you, learn to communicate your emotions effectively, and learn that not everything requires a reaction from you.
  • Want a closer walk with God? Stop prioritizing social media over scripture, find yourself godly sisters, and make decisions that align with the life you're wanting to lead.

God isn’t asking for perfection, but He is asking for participation. He’s already doing the new thing. The question is, are you going to step into it, or are you going to keep doing the same old, same old? It’s time to throw out the expired milk, babe. Walk boldly into the new season God is preparing for you!

God is doing a new thing in your life. But new things require new habits, new choices, and new levels of obedience. You don’t have to have it all figured out—just be willing to move when He says move. This week, do one thing that symbolizes your commitment to newness. Delete that old contact, sign up for the class, say yes to the opportunity—whatever it is, take action! And if you need support, I’m here to help.
